Art Installation Showcase
During the production I realized that an artist could also be suffering from a Lima Syndrome when making a piece. The destiny of those once functional, now a defenseless art material razors is in the hands of the artist. The razors are my hostages during the production, and yet the artist also tends to develop an illogical attachment to them. During the exhibition, the piece becomes a kind-hearted terrorist, which takes the audience hostage affectionately.
There is a passive aggression towards the audience from the artist's stance, a controlled rage and a hateful love relationship. With a need to channel this aggression, the first step of designing this piece was trying to create an installation resembling a weapon directing some kind of danger towards the audience with the aim of invoking fear.
Although the strips are aesthetically intriguing, a repulsive force forms immediately upon realization of the material used. Three dimensionality is created by a volume, which makes audience feel a subtle embracing action inviting them inside but at the same time a repulsive emotion is created by rusty razors. This is the intended tension the work contains.
